A Visit to the Beardsley Zoo in the Times of Corona
My goodness it felt good to be out and about doing an activity again. This past weekend, we did our family’s first visit to Bridgeport’s Beardsley Zoo. Though its a smaller zoo than the big name American zoos (and it was made even smaller on our visit due to COVID restrictions), the exhibits on offer at Beardsley Zoo pack a lot of punch. We saw tigers, panthers, leopards, spider monkeys, anteaters, cranes red pandas and the most adorable crew of prairie dogs I’ve ever seen!!
The smaller zoo’s size and pleasant location inside Beardsley park make it an easier and more carefree alternative than battling the crowds, the traffic and alllll that walking around at the larger and more well known Bronx Zoo.
A great way to spend a few hours outdoors as a family!
For now, the zoo is only open for those who pre-purchase limited tickets for either the morning or afternoon sessions. Masks must be worn and paths and rules must be followed on your visit. Indoor exhibits and features are closed. We still had a ton of fun and got a good sense of the place even in these strange times!
