Oh Wow. Some Easter Egg Hunts ARE Happening in 2021. I got so used to living in a world of nothingness that it didn’t even dawn on me until a few days ago that there actually MIGHT be some holiday activities happening this spring. Alas, Easter is just about a month away and some Egg Hunts are already sold out (lookin’ at you, Stamford Nature Center). Read on for a few that, as of this publication, still have spots!

If you are, like me, (i) a parent who has had NO access to babysitters for the past year and/or (ii) a person who is still uncomfortable with the prospect of indoor dining, then, probably, you are, like me, REALLY missing the glorious feeling of having an adult meal inside a restaurant.
In normal times, my husband and I fairly regularly treat ourselves to a sitter in order to have some alone time together and to try some of the nicer spots around. I miss that A LOT.
Alas, spring is getting nearer. Vaccines are happening. And my SECOND COVID birthday is fast approaching. MAYBE soon things will be some version of normal again. Until then, I’m daydreaming about all my favorite local spots to revisit when I have a sitter. Here is that list in case you feel like daydreaming with me.
Think of this as the grown up version of my “Where to Feed Your Kids” list!
PS I included below only spots that I’ve been to (and been impressed with) over and over. I have a whole other mental list of spots that I’ve done just once, and badly need to try again (e.g. Don Memo in Westport, Maria in New Rochelle, the Whitlock in Katonah and L’Inizio in Ardsley).

Warwick, NY is yet another small, (barely) upstate New York town that I’m now smitten with.
Known for its farming community, a fall festival called “Applefest” and a drive in theater that has been around way before the entire country turned to “drive ins” in an effort to continue business in the time of COVID, Warwick is only about an hour fifteen from Manhattan.
I’d been a few times previously to visit a friend in town, but this was our first time truly soaking up Warwick. We had a LOT of fun.

2020. Nothing is business as usual. Up is now down and down is now up. And there sure is a lot of anxiety right now as we face the return to school and to colder, harsher weather.
Fall is normally my absolute favorite season and it’s definitely a bummer that several of the usual autumn activities are canceled this year. But there is still some fall fun to be had - just this year, in a mask and 6 feet away from the next family.

Maine!!!!
A special state for us. Both my husband and I visited Maine each summer as little ones. We each must have liked it, because we’re still coming back now with our little ones.
And with our older daughter just finishing up her first summer at a Maine sleep away camp and our younger daughter likely to follow in her footsteps soon enough, Maine is going to be as big a part of our future as it’s been in our past.
So instead of continuing to do annual stand alone update posts for each Maine visit (which would probably turn the Travel Adventures section of this blog into Maine-A-Palozza), I’ve created this new All About Maine landing page. I love good food. I have two kids. Although it’s not always easy, I take those two kids out to restaurants A LOT. And, believe it or not, after years of dining out, they actually LOVE going to restaurants; and they are slowly getting better at sitting in their chairs for an entire meal.
There are so many food blogs out there. But none really focus on family friendly dining - particularly the kind of family friendly dining that doesn’t in any way resemble Chuck E. Cheese.
So here now is a running list of my suggestions, separated by geography, on where to Feed Your Kids. No, these spots are not like the cafe inside your local day care - these are legit restaurants that cater to adults. But I have done each of these with our kids, and I know you can and SHOULD, too!
